Bridal Trends: How ‘Pastels’ have taken over the Reds & Maroons

Bridal couture trends have changed drastically in the past few yearsCountries like India and Pakistan are known to have weddings that last up to three days. There are functions such as Mehndi, Baraat and Walima.

Women were usually spotted wearing red or maroon on their big day along with heavy dupatta on their head and chunky jewellery around their neck.

However, all this has changed.

Designers are now taking the ‘Less is more’ approach and incorporating minimalism in their designs.

Maroon has been replaced with colors such as tea pink, peach , grey, silver, off white, ivory and many more. The bridal color palette now focuses on light colors along with simple embroideries.

Most designers now focus on light color embroideries giving the whole outfit an elegant and graceful look.

The gown trend is back once again, many brides prefer wearing a gown instead of a lehenga on their wedding day mainly because it’s more sophisticated and chic.

• The Printed Lehenga: be it floral or abstract, printed lehengas have become huge! Designers and brands such as Zara Shahjahan & Avoir have featured these trends in their collection.

The printed lehenga trend is definitely a more modernized and funky approach to the traditional desi styles which is very refreshing and unique.

• The Vibrant Color Palette: Pink, silver, yellow, blue and lime green seem to be the colors of preference this season. The brighter the outfit, the more it makes a statement on the dance floor.

• The Sharara: the best part about sharara’s is that they look flattering on most body types and look elegant, not to forget that they are by far the most comfortable outfits for Mehndis.

Selena Gomez broke the silence on her ‘depression, anxiety & panic attacks’ at the AMAs

PC: Hello giggles

Selena Gomez made a public appearance last night at the AMA’s after announcing in August that she will be taking some time off from her career to focus on her well being.

The singer was suffering from Lupus related depression, anxiety and panic attacks. She also decided to check herself into a rehab to deal with her uncertain feelings about life.

However, this hasn’t stopped her from creating new music, her recent collaboration with Cashmere Cat ‘Trust Nobody’ has gained a brilliant response.

She is back to the public life and her fans couldn’t be any prouder.

PC: Hello giggles

Selena Gomez showed up at the American Music Awards last night (20th November) wearing a gorgeous red gown, with statement earrings and a low pony tail. She won the award for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist.

When receiving the award, she made a powerful speech addressing her problems.

“In 2014, this stage was actually the first time that I was authentically 100 percent honest with you,” Selena said, her voice shaky with emotion. “I think it’s safe to say that a lot of you know a lot of my life whether I liked it or not and I had to stop. Because I had everything, and I was absolutely broken. And I kept it together and I swore I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.”

Along with this, she also addressed how she didn’t want to see people’s bodies on Instagram but rather what’s in their heart.

“I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore. All I can say is I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to share what I love every day with people that I love. I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” she said.

“But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. That’s one thing you should know about me: I care about people. And this is for you.”

We’re absolutely proud of Selena Gomez opening up to her fans about her problems and keeping it real through out!It takes real courage and strength to open up and deal with problems in the public eye.

Winter is here!

After what seemed to be an endless summer we are finally closer to winter! It’s time to welcome winter with hot cocoas, bonfires and of course fashion. This is the time to give your wardrobe a make over and take advantage of the change in weather. Here are a few winter trends that we are most looking forward to:

The Blazer over Kurta Trend: layering is once again back in style, bringing in the ‘90s vibe. We think that it’s a funky approach to layer a kameez with a blazer, some statement earrings, boyfriend jeans and boots. It’s a daring look to pull off, but as long as you have a passion for fashion you’re good to go. This trend will not only make you look chic but will also keep you warm in winters.

Cape Shawls: this is the most effortless way to look fabulous. Add a chunky statement necklace, some troops boots and a fringe bag- and your look is complete! These capes can be found at stores such as H&M, Daraz.pk and Outfitters.

Metallic: be it blazers, boots or bag- anything that is in rose gold or silver can add a pop to your winter look, making it more chic and glamorous. The key it to not over do it, for instance if you’re wearing metallic silver shoes then avoid carrying a metallic bag or blazer.

Max Factor Transformation Kit

maxfactor

Hello make up geeks!

In my previous post I spoke about the Max Factor ‘Transformation Kit’ launch event, and as promised I’m sharing my genuine feedback about the products in the kit.

The brand Max Factor has been around for a really long time, I’ve grown up seeing my sisters use products from this brand, so it’s evident that they’ve been around for a while. Their latest launch, ‘The Transformation Kit’, is a MUST HAVE! (and I know i say this often, but hey I only post about brands/makeup that I genuinely like and this is MY FAVORITE this month!)

Here’s what the Kit includes:

  • Max Factor FACE FINITY ALL DAY FLAWLESS 3 IN 1 FOUNDATION: it’s 3 in 1 which means it works like a primer, concealer and foundation. Personally, I’m very very picky when it comes to foundations. For the longest time I’ve been using BB creams but let’s face it, a gal needs a good foundation for those special evenings where you HAVE to look flawless and this foundation does just THAT. First of all, it has a flawless matte finish which is brilliant because I hate the cakey texture that most foundations cause. Along with this, you don’t have to apply a lot of product, just two drops of this is good enough for the face and neck (you can apply more if you prefer a really good layer for foundation on your face) so it’s good value for money because it’ll last a while. facefinityfdn_bottleswithswatch
  • Max Factor Color Corrector : this works great for redness and dark circles – it however does cling onto dry patches if you have any, so if you have super dry skin I wouldn’t recommend this but over all I feel it covers really well especially using it after applying the foundation. It has great coverage – your dark circles won’t show in person or in pictures!max-factor_cc-sticks_revitaliser_yellow_ecommerce_cutout_hi-res_easy-resize-com
  •  Max Factor Pan Stik: this happens to be a stick foundation, personally I prefer liquid foundations- I feel they blend better on my skin. Along with this, the shade of this product is Cool Copper 14 which is a few shades darker than my skin tone so I can’t really use this as a foundation (this Kit was provided by Max Factor at the event hence the shade isn’t mine). But I do feel that this can be used for contouring, because it’s a foundation stick it’ll blend really well. I like contouring but not too much so for a subtle contour I think this works really well!max

The Kit also comes with a few flash cards which basically has step by step instructions for achieving bigger eyes, bigger lips, shorter nose, narrow nose and sharper cheekbones – with these products. I’m genuinely impressed with this kit I think it’s everything that a girl needs (HONEST!)

Max Factor’s all-new transformation kit is available in retail stores across the Middle East at AED 135.

On 13th October, I was invited to attend an event hosted by Max factor, I took my girlfriends along and headed to the event. It was an exclusive event that was attended by Joelle Mardinian, Max Factor’s Regional Creative Director. She introduced the Max Factor’s latest and definitely a MUST HAVE product the, ‘Transformation Kit’, along with this she shared a whole bunch of beauty secrets thats definitely making me look at make up differently (in a fabulous way, of course!)

Along with this, we got a chance to interact with Samira Olfat, who is the brand ambassador for Max Factor in the Middle East and the founder of Max Factor Make up Academy. She shared her thoughts on a few make up techniques such as contouring, making small lips appear bigger and plenty more! After learning the tips and tricks of make up, we were invited for a make over session, courtesy of Max Factor Make up Academy.

Blast from the past

Photo: WeHeartIt.com

Hello fashion geeks!

After stalking some of my favorite celebrities and fashion influencers – I’ve realized that some specific trends have really come back and stayed with us for a while this year.

Most of em are from the ’90s – remember the ’90s? Where having a Tamagotchi hanging on your bagpack was considered next level cool? (If you don’t know what a Tamagotchi is, please google RIGHT NOW). Personally, I miss the simple things like texting wasnt huge back then, photos were only taken to put in an album, the simplest plans such as going out for ice cream was an adventure on its on.

But now here we are, trying to impress people we don’t really care about with things that we don’t really care about. I think social media on its own has made people so insecure about so many things like how they should look or what they should wear. I know people who only do things just to put it up on their social media – honestly please stop doing that. Do things that you like with people that you care about, thats all there is to life. I’d be a hypocrite if I said that social media is awful and terrible, its really not. Just don’t let it shape you into someone that you’re not.

Coming back to the post, alot of trends are coming back this season- choker is here to stay (at least till the year ends)

To be very honest, I wasn’t a fan of this trend initially but it grew on me. It just looks so darn cooooool now!! Am i right?!

The flare jeans & white shoes: this is everywhere!! The white shoes are perfect for adding a statement to the outfit. Flare jeans are definitely my go to jeans!

The ripped jeans trend: Monica Geller did it before it was done by everyone.

Layering the slip dress trend: this one is my most favorite! Any kind of slip dress can be layered with a tee, cropped top or even sweaters – it really depends on your personal style.

Slip dress

Its official! The slip dress and shirt combo is making a massive comeback this season. The best part about this trend is that it’s probably already available in your wardrobe. We all had a phase where we would layer slip dresses with cardigans, now all we have to do is layer ’em with plain crop tops. The slip dress – and shirt combo is all over the street style trends. It doesn’t necessarily has to be a slip dress, you can work with any frock/ sleeveless tops in your wardrobe and pair it up with plain or printed blouses or tees, depending on your personal style. I paired my slip dress with a plain white crop top, skinny jeans, vintage chunky heels and a choker. I love how the choker and heels tie the outfit together giving it a very ’90s chill vibes!

Why Flare Jeans?

from-karlie-kloss-to-gigi-hadid-how-to-bundle-up-like-a-celebrity-1597859-1450220449-640x0c

Flare jeans were huge back in the ’90s and the trend seems to be making a comeback this year. I personally love flare jeans, any ’70s or ’90s trend is my forever favorite. Everyone should be investing in at least one pair of flare jeans and here’s why:

  • They’re super comfortable & figure flattering – The pattern of the flare jeans makes one look taller because of the extra volume at the bottom of the jeans, which makes the legs look longer. It flatters any body shape because it’s not fitted through out.
  • They’re retro – On a personal level, I feel we’re all some what craving the ’70s trend, and flares are a major part of the retro vibe!
  • In a world full of skinny jeans, be flare jeans – For me, skinny jeans are super uncomfy, especially when you’re living in Dubai – it’s just way too hot to be wearing something that tight, hence flare it out!
