#Major Inspiration |Q&A With Mr.Kate

In recent years, the online community has grown by leaps and bounds. And Kate Albrecht a.k.a Mr. Kate stands out as one of the most influential people of all time.
With a blend of fashion & lifestyle movement, she has managed to attract millions of viewers around the globe. Her unique sense of style and creative DIYs set her apart from the crowd.

This popular influencer’s creative DIYs and how-to’s have also grabbed the attention of Hollywood celebrities such as Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens & Reese Witherspoon. With regular style and home makeover videos, she has managed to become a trend setter, inspiring many others to discover their own unique sense of style.

I managed to get an interview with the popular lifestyle blogger, designer & YouTube star. Here’s what she had to say:
1) Who was your first style icon?
Hmm that’s hard! I fell in love with clothes at a very young age and styled my own outfits as soon as I could walk, basically. So my first style icon at the age of three was probably Rainbow Bright… she rocked those bright colors!
2) What made you want to start your blog?
I wanted an online forum to document my creative process designing my jewelry line (also called Mr. Kate and sold onshop.mrkate.com) as well as the various DIY, interior design and styling projects I was always working on. A blog seemed like an easy thing to do every day so Joey (my husband/business partner) programmed a blog and online shop combo website. I blogged every day and really cultivated my creative voice by sharing with others.
3) What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
I love the althleisure craze. I’m very into going to the gym and staying healthy so I love that I can get away with wearing my gym clothes out and about. I also love the 90’s choker craze that’s back. I have a choker coming out in my next jewelry collection!
4) Favorite fashion magazine?
Probably Nylon because I like that they explore new designers and funky looks. It best aligns with how I dress myself on a regular basis. I’ve also always loved the editorials in Harper’s Bazaar.
5) Being a Fashionista, what challenges do you come across & how do you deal with them?
A physical challenge is just that I’m petite so I always have to hem pants but getting to the tailor takes me forever. I’m often DIYing a hem or just biting the bullet and cutting the bottom of my flare-leg jeans and just embracing the frayed edge.
Another challenge is keeping an organized closet. I made a deal with myself that for every new article of clothing I buy I have to get rid of one so my closet doesn’t get too stuffed. I bring all of my old clothes to the Goodwill or the girls at the Mr. Kate office raid the pile.
6) Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn?
So tough! But have to go with Marilyn!
7) What is the one thing your readers will be surprised to hear?
Oh gosh, I’m so transparent on my blog, in my video and in my book there isn’t much I haven’t shared. Let’s see, my readers might be surprised to hear that I have an insatiable sweet tooth. If there is chocolate in the house, I will EAT IT!
8) What’s your to-go outfit?
My style changes, which I like because I enjoy being experimental with fashion. Lately my go-to outfit has been a lot of layers. It’s chilly in LA so I like wearing a t-shirt with a loose flannel or denim shirt and then a tailored jacket over top. Kind of grunge meets chic.
9) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Still working within a creative environment and having grown Mr. Kate to be a global, omnimedia lifestyle brand. Probably with a successful TV show in some capacity too.
On a personal note, Mr.Kate has always been an inspiration to me. One of the reasons I started blogging was because I would religiously keep up with her blog. I think it’s amazing how she manages to have such a different perspective on ordinary things.
A huge shout out to Mr.Kate for agreeing to answer my questions!
